FASTRAK Drivers SPOTLIGHT -#33 Tomahawk Chassis of Shane “The Gecko” Greco from Midway, West Virginia
Tell us about yourself?
I’m a 19 year old 6 foot 6 Basketball player and racer graduated from Independence High School class of 13. I got started racing when I was 7 years old. I won many karting races and competed with the best of the best and I won my only Championship in 2005. I got my FASTRAK crate in the fall of 2011. My rookie year was a struggle but I have recovered well in 2013
with 4 wins so far.
How did you get into racing? How old were you? First car/class?
I was 7 years old when I received my first racing go-kart. I raced in the purple plate restrictor class.
What is your favorite racing memory?
All of them cherished with friends and Family.
Greatest achievement in your racing career?
My Karting Championship in 2005 and my first wins at Thunder Mountain Speedway and Beckley Speedway. (Hopefully there’s more to come)
Any superstitions (peanuts not allowed in pits, etc)?
No true color green on your race car. (bad-luck)
What is the story behind running the number you choose?
Joe Meadows sponsored my kart one year and I decided to run it and it stuck.
What is the hardest part of racing?
The money and behind the scenes tuning and maintenance on the car
What got you involved with the FASTRAK Racing Series and what keeps you racing with the Series??
They started coming to WV and I ran them then I’ve looked forward to them coming the next year in addition to competing on the weekly level .
Tell us what you like most about your home track? What are some of your other favorite tracks & why do you like them so much? What’s the hardest track you’ve ever competed at?
Beckley Motorsports Park is my local track and I like it because everyone knows me and I have lots of friends, family, and sponsors that come there. It’s really special to win in front of all those people. Another of my other favorite tracks would have to be Thunder Mountain Speedway. There is always an awesome fan base and some fast cars to compete with there.
Princeton Speedway I’d say is the hardest track I have competed on so far. It’s shaped like a D and it gets really slick sometimes.
What do you like to do when you are not racing?
Take a pretty lady out to dinner, fish, hang out with friends, and the most important is to just RELAX!!
